SATURDAYS ARE MEANT FOR THE KIDS
The summer of 2008 started out mild, then turned to warm, and in the heat of summer five young souls came together with a vision: to be the greatest band in the world. Moreover, the greatest cover band within at least a five block radius. Every Saturday they came together, practicing their favorite indie rock hits. That's when the creativity built up; secretly (or not so secretly) writing songs on the side, the members came together and started playing their own hits. And the rest, as they say, was history. Thus was born Dead Cities.
THE BAND
TJ Anderson - Keyboard and Vocals
TJ is the man with the most epic hair of all history, and potentially the most epic beard (although he has yet to regrow it despite our best efforts). TJ tickles the ivories on tunes like The Indie Ocean and Tooth How's In Ate, is featured on the lead vocals in our featured live cover of Radiohead's Creep, and is currently in the process of writing what could potentially be our best songs ever.
Tim Gould - Guitar and Vocals
Tim, the man referred to jokingly as "the band leader," got the keys to pretty much the best practice space in the known universe, and inspired us all to get together this summer and start making music. When not wearing his Big & Rich shirt, Tim is writing some of our finest hits, such as The Indie Ocean, and A Stranger in the Alps.
Andy Kulie - Guitar and Vocals
Andy started playing guitar about 9 years ago in hopes of someday getting panties thrown at him on stage. While that has yet to happen (seriously, what's up with that), he's managed to write and sing a few of our biggest panty-droppers, Our War Ballad and The Flower That Drank The Moon.
Brad Perala - Drums
Brad brings the thunder to Dead Cities with his mad drum skillz (yes that's a z) on songs like Hummer and Tim's Adventure. Brad is also our chief promoter, finding us gigs and ways to get our music out to everyone at every turn. He has also become the first band member to tag his instrument with the Dead Cities logo, although, he is the drummer, so I suppose that's to be expected.
Chris Wright - Bass and Vocals
Dubbed "The Original Black Hand" for his innate bass-pounding ability, Chris doubles as the voice of reason and the best damn engineer this side of MacFarland. Chris's bass can be heard ball-wrapping you on songs like The Towering Inferno and Our War Ballad.
THE CREW
Josh Hjelt - Graphic Artist and Musical Advisor
When not attempting to blow things up, Josh is making some tight techno with ARQ1TYP3 and helping out Dead Cities in any way he can. From staging our first show to accidentally making our logo, he's been one of our biggest supporters from the get-go. His Photoshop skills are second to none, as are his skills at fighting the power of modern rock radio.
